  • Supporters can choose from over 240 cryptocurrencies to donate through the platform.

A new on-chain donations platform allows U.S. politicians to accept crypto donations on the Coinbase-incubated Base network.

Supporters can choose from over 240 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, or credit card payment to donate through the platform, according to its website. It states that crypto donations offer a faster and more secure option, and are fully compliant with U.S. regulations.

The platform also says that it collects the minimum amount of information necessary to fulfill compliance requirements.

While a firm called Engage Raise is behind the platform, Coinbase Commerce powers its operations, Base network's lead Jesse Pollak noted on X.

13 U.S. politicians appeared to have signed up to receive crypto donations, including known blockchain advocate Rep. Tom Emmer and Sen. Cynthia Lummis. The platform’s “signup as a campaign” button appears to onboard additional political campaigns to utilize its platform, while it notes that it is not attached to any specific political party.

Separate from this platform, Donald Trump, the Republican Party candidate for the upcoming November presidential election, started accepting cryptocurrency donations in May as he began to proclaim his support for crypto. Trump received $3 million worth of crypto donations in the second quarter.
